When I first jumped into Liquidation, I expected another sci-fi RTS trying to imitate the classics. Instead, I ended up spending far more hours than I originally planned. The game mixes large-scale army management with hero-focused gameplay in a way that immediately reminded me of the golden era of real-time strategy, while still introducing enough original mechanics to feel fresh.
What I enjoy most is that every faction feels dramatically different. Winning isn’t simply about producing the biggest army—it comes down to understanding your economy, hero timing, scouting information, and how each faction handles Quenrium. That asymmetrical design is exactly what keeps matches exciting.
After following competitive matches, watching experienced players experiment with strategies, and spending plenty of time climbing the ladder myself, here’s how I currently rank every faction available in Liquidation Early Access.

The current balance is actually healthier than I expected. None of the playable factions are completely useless, but there is definitely one that consistently performs better across almost every map and matchup.
S Tier – Scourge Alliance
If someone asked me which faction gives the best chance of winning right now, my answer would almost always be Scourge Alliance.
The biggest reason isn’t raw damage.
It’s consistency.
While other factions often have to commit everything into one engagement, Scourge can pressure the map continuously without risking their entire army. Their mechanics naturally reward efficient trades instead of desperate all-in attacks.
Why They’re So Strong
The regenerative shield system changes almost every battle.
Instead of constantly replacing damaged units, many of your core forces simply recover between engagements. That allows you to keep applying pressure while your opponent slowly runs out of resources trying to defend.
Another huge advantage is mobility.
The faction’s unique movement mechanics make expanding much safer than it is for everyone else. Securing Quenrium deposits feels less risky, and rotating between objectives is much easier than with slower armies.
I also like how forgiving the faction is.
Even if you make one or two positioning mistakes, the shield mechanic often gives you enough time to recover before losing expensive units.
What Makes Their Army Work
- Durable frontline mechanical units
- Poison-based Lamia infantry
- Mobile ranged hero support
- Continuous map harassment
Instead of trying to win one decisive battle, Scourge slowly exhausts opponents through constant pressure.
Against defensive players, that’s incredibly frustrating to deal with.
A Tier – Twilight Crusade
Twilight Crusade feels like the faction designed for players who grew up playing classic RTS games.
Everything about them rewards clean macro, disciplined base management, and proper build orders.
If you enjoy creating an unstoppable late-game army instead of rushing early aggression, this faction is incredibly satisfying.
Strengths
Their defensive capabilities are easily among the best currently available.
Heavy infantry absorb tremendous punishment, while their structures can survive attacks that would cripple other factions.
Once multiple Quenrium expansions are secured, the faction becomes surprisingly difficult to stop.
Some of their late-game armored units almost feel like miniature bosses.
Hero Combinations
The frontline tank hero perfectly complements the army.
Instead of chasing kills, this hero exists to:
- Hold important choke points
- Protect artillery
- Increase nearby armor
- Create space for ranged units
Behind that defensive wall, artillery slowly destroys almost everything standing in its way.
When everything comes together, Twilight Crusade feels nearly unstoppable.
The Downside
Their biggest weakness is speed.
Fast opponents can force reactions across the map, making it difficult to maintain ideal positioning.
Against experienced Scourge players, this mobility disadvantage becomes very noticeable.
B Tier – Legion
Legion is probably the faction I enjoy watching the most.
Playing against them? That’s a different story.
The faction revolves around relentless aggression, overwhelming numbers, and explosive spell combinations.
Matches involving Legion rarely stay quiet for long.
What Makes Legion Dangerous
Unlike the slower factions, Legion wants chaos.
Cheap units allow constant attacks, forcing opponents to defend multiple locations simultaneously.
Even when losing armies, Legion can often replace them surprisingly quickly.
The faction excels at:
- Early rushes
- Fast expansions
- Swarm tactics
- Area damage
- Spell combinations
When everything goes according to plan, Legion can completely overwhelm unprepared opponents before they ever reach late game.
Why They’re Only B Tier
Execution.
Almost every Legion strategy requires excellent multitasking.
Poor spell timing.
Late reinforcements.
One failed attack.
Any of these mistakes can completely change the outcome of a match.
Their units simply don’t scale as efficiently against heavily armored late-game armies.
If your early pressure fails, winning becomes significantly harder.
For experienced RTS veterans this may not be a major issue, but newer players will likely struggle.
Ancient Corruption – Worth Watching
Although this faction isn’t fully available yet, early previews suggest something very different from the current roster.
Based on what has been shown so far, Ancient Corruption appears focused on spreading influence across the battlefield rather than relying purely on military strength.
Until the faction becomes fully playable, I wouldn’t place too much weight on speculation.
Balance can change dramatically before release.

Three Things That Win More Games
1. Never Ignore Quenrium
Everything revolves around resource control.
Players who dominate the important Quenrium deposits usually dictate the pace of the entire game.
Even the strongest late-game army can’t compensate for a weak economy.
2. Heroes Should Never Fight Alone
Heroes aren’t superheroes.
They’re force multipliers.
The strongest armies always build around hero abilities rather than sending heroes into combat by themselves.
Good positioning consistently beats flashy spell usage.
3. Scout Constantly
Information wins games.
Knowing whether your opponent is:
- Expanding
- Teching
- Building artillery
- Preparing an attack
lets you react before problems become impossible to solve.
One scouting unit often provides more value than several combat units.
My Final Thoughts
One thing I genuinely appreciate about Liquidation is that every victory feels earned.
Scourge Alliance currently sits at the top because their toolkit answers almost every situation without obvious weaknesses. Twilight Crusade remains a fantastic choice for players who love disciplined macro and devastating late-game armies, while Legion rewards fearless aggression and exceptional mechanical skill.
Of course, we’re still in Early Access, and balance patches will almost certainly shake up the competitive scene over the coming months. New heroes, faction adjustments, and additional content could easily change today’s rankings.
For now, though, if your goal is climbing the ranked ladder as efficiently as possible, Scourge Alliance is still my top recommendation. It offers the best balance of economy, survivability, mobility, and battlefield flexibility, making it the faction I would trust most in a serious competitive match.
No matter which army you choose, however, the biggest advantage doesn’t come from picking the strongest faction—it comes from mastering its strengths, understanding its weaknesses, and learning how to adapt when every match unfolds differently. That’s what makes Liquidation such an enjoyable RTS, and it’s exactly why I keep coming back for “just one more game.”
