Our success is due to many great discoveries and each is easy to learn. Two that will prove invaluable to you and should be learned now.
W Clement Stone the author of the book called The Success System that Never Fails stated that the two greatest discoveries are: -
- The deliberate use of self-motivators
- The skill of speaking enthusiastically
In this article I will write about the deliberate use of self-motivators and in a later article I will address the skill of speaking enthusiastically.
Use of Self Motivators
When you learn to use inspirational self-motivators, you are well on the way to controlling your thoughts and emotions and to worthwhile action. Now, a self-motivator is a slogan, quotation, or even a symbol of an idea that is meaningful to you.
When you develop the habit to respond to such a symbol it moves you to desirable action at the right time.
Illustrations: -
- Success is achieved by those who try and keep on trying…DO IT NOW
- When there is nothing to lose by trying and a great deal to gain if successful – By all means try…DO IT NOW
- When the going gets tough, the tough get going…DO IT NOW
Now is the time to memorise these self-motivators. Here is an example: Let’s say you decide to make 20 prospecting calls, but you are hesitant, timid or even hesitant to start. If you have repeated these self-motivators frequently enough, day by day so that they become part of you, you will find that like a flash of inspiration your sub-conscious mind will picture in your conscious mind
- Success is achieved by those who try and keep on trying…DO IT NOW
- When there is nothing to lose by trying and a great deal to gain if successful – By all means try…DO IT NOW
- When the going gets tough, the tough get going…DO IT NOW
And if you develop the habit always to act on any constructive idea in response to DO IT NOW (Which self-motivator we term a self-starter), you will immediately make those prospecting calls. Many sales records have been smashed because sales people responded to the illustration: - Success is achieved by those who try and keep on trying…DO IT NOW! For they immediately picked up that phone and made the prospecting calls with enthusiasm.
Now this illustration is only one of hundreds of true illustrations. IMPORTANT: - Memorise each self-motivator as you develop it and always act immediately on the self-starter DO IT NOW – When the action is good, beneficial or desirable.
