Meetings, Meetings! - Why Have them?
A team consists of people working largely on their own need help in the following areas;-
- Support
- Encouragement
- Motivation
- Inspiration
- Advice & Training
- Praise & Recognition
- Contact with others
A well-planned kick-off meeting can supply all of the elements and be great fun also!
As a team leader, supervisor, manager or business owner you want the best results from your people. A good meeting will help to ensure this is a motivational and informative meeting and can plant the seeds of enthusiasm that will develop into great results over the following weeks. Research has shown that those team members who attend kick-off meetings will go on to be winners in their field, those who don't, often become disenchanted and will possibly be on the lookout for a new job.
If a staff member attends one badly run meeting, can you blame them if they don't attend the next one?
Keep your meeting short and to the point and have an agenda to work to.
Plan - Plan - and Plan again...that's the secret to running a successful kick-off meeting.
